Linguista Toronto has a tradition of delivering highly structured programs designed and constantly updated to provide a learning architecture which helps students develop a solid grasp of the language, which they are then encouraged to use in the real-life environment outside school. Courses are rigorous and challenging to help students achieve maximum results. The courses are purpose-designed for building linguistic confidence and effective communication skills for general, academic or professional purposes.
Class size is kept to a maximum of 8 per class to ensure personal attention from the teacher for all participants. This means that rather than the student having to fit into a rigid, pre-established program, the teachers can adapt their teaching to the requirements and levels of their class. In such small groups, students can be closely monitored and encouraged to give the best of themselves.
All courses may be combined with individual lessons allowing students to create a program which is adapted to their own requirements and which creates a balance of interactive group work and personalized one-to-one sessions.
All lessons encourage serious study with clear aims:
• clearly identified objectives at the beginning of each lesson
• focus on language learning strategies
• appropriate time limits set for each activity
• a pace calculated to challenge the learner at all times
• interaction between teacher and student and student and student (as appropriate)
• private study exercises, which consolidate classroom activities and preparation time to maximise the
benefits of the lesson
• feedback on progress achieved
Dynamic and meticulous: all our teachers are selected for their passion to make a significant contribution to the learning results of the students. They are able to present language structures in an effective and understandable format; they encourage students to practise the use of the language in a creative and supportive way; the overall result being to build fluency and confidence in the use of the language.
Linguista Toronto is accredited by Languages Canada and as such, all of our teachers are fully qualified with a minimum of a university degree plus TESL Canada/Ontario approved TESL certification.
Each week the teachers assess the students’ learning needs. At the
end of each week a review takes place with the teacher to establish
what has been achieved. Each student’s level is assessed in line with
the Canadian Language Benchmarks and all students receive a
certificate at the end of the course detailing the progress made.
